Deck The HALLS

“The show must go on. Or work.” “Dust off and get up.” “Flex your ‘can do’ muscle.” “Seize the day.”  I’ve been sick for the better part of two weeks now.   Good old Maryland, the land of the never-ending sinus infection. Coughing, sneezing, wheezing, and just...

SOLITUDE

Nobody can give me those moments, nor take them away—they are completely mine, hidden away from the rest of the world. They are not to be interpreted, discussed, or analyzed, merely experienced. “I am ready for whatever’s coming

MY RETURN TO ACTUAL PROGRESS – by Adam McVey

I have FINALLY engrained it in my head that I need to get stronger on the basic compound movements. Up until this year I have been at the same goddamned strength level for four or five years. This past year, however, I have finally listened to the likes of Dante and Dusty and I have kept a log book and made it PRIORITY NUMBER ONE to get STRONG!!!

BABETTE MULFORD – Warrior’s Corner

IFBB Pro Babette Mulford- I originally grew interested in competing while dancing at an intermission of a bodybuilding show in 1999. For anybody loo king to get started with competing, I would tell them that it takes a lot of time and planning, as well as give and take. AND, the famous saying, “Anything worth doing is worth doing right”.

TEARS OF PERFECTION

Most of you know me as an asshole, as “brutally honest”, as “the guy who always spits it straight and tells it like it is”. Did you know I’m also the guy who sits here crying as I watch my clients top callouts at the shows?

THEY SAID

It’ll be great, they said. You’ll feel better, look better, sleep better and your sex life will improve. Trust us, they said, after you get over that initial phase, it’ll all come naturally. Or so they said.

HATRED OF THE GOOD FOR BEING THE GOOD

I laughed at the Planet Fitness commercials. And then I remember Rand’s warning: “Kill by laughter. Laughter is an instrument of human joy. Learn to use it as a weapon of destruction. Turn it into a sneer.”

WARRIORS CORNER – JOCELYN MCMILLIAN

David Johnson was a straight up, non-sugar-coating, tell-you –how-it-is type of dude! I loved that! So I knew his wife had to be a badass as well. Nikki Johnston did my prep for two shows and I can honestly say that it was the best decision I made in regards to my fitness journey.

THE TRAINERS CONNECTION

I get to hide behind the scenes. I get to hide in the trenches, designing the vision, laying down the blueprint, the foundation, that will allow this individual to do what is necessary to win on show day. I get to watch them go from unsure, unconfident, scared, and nervous—to triumphant, proud, grinning ear to ear, when they get up there and know they have succeeded.

GET DEM GAINZ

If your goal is to multitask to the point of wasting all of your time, and somehow come home from the gym in worse shape than when you left the house, well, look no further.
