The hardest part of prep was definitely the very low carb days. Having to deal with people when you have 0 energy and they have no idea how hard it really is. On those days, I had to keep a constant inner dialogue to get through the difficult times, just keep pushing myself.

Eight years of hell. Eight years of failed diets. Eight years of fighting with David Johnston, Adam McVey, and now Matt Porter, about said failed diets. Eight years of 90-minute cardio sessions. Eight years of seeing 200lbs on the scale over and over again. Eight years of beating my body down to pure exhaustion. Eight years of failure! Why the f*ck would I ever take part in anything like that? Why would I subject my mind, body and soul to such torture?

When my parents weren’t around, I would sneak off and use a dumbbell set they had purchased. At the age of 13, I was cleared to begin weight training. I have never left the gym since. I competed in my first bodybuilding show at the age of 14, and I was hooked.
